In a record-breaking twist, the Barbie movie, directed by Greta Gerwig and featuring Margot Robbie as lead star, outshines Christopher Nolan's acclaimed film, The Dark Knight.

The film has made headlines (again) by securing the highest-ever Monday box office figures for a Warner Bros. movie as it raked in an impressive $26 million compared to The Dark Knight's $24.6 million (figures unadjusted for inflation), as per Variety.

While movie connoisseurs had anticipated high excitement for the movie, based on one of the world's most recognizable and iconic toys, the real impetus for Barbie's soaring success at the box office came from the "Barbenheimer" phenomenon. Announced to release on the same day as Nolan's Oppenheimer, Barbie and its competitor morphed into a celebration of both films, rather than a clash of titans.
