Fresh off its monumental victory at The Game Awards 2023, Larian Studios brings back special Twitch drops for Baldur’s Gate 3 streams. Plus, the award-winning developer and publisher released a fix for game saves disappearing.

An amusing incident happened during the acceptance speech for the Game of the Year at the 2023 TGA. Swen Vincke (Larian Studios CEO) and his team took to the stage to receive the GOTY award for their D&D CRPG masterpiece Baldur’s Gate 3. However, the time allotted was only set for 30 seconds and Vincke had to cut the speech short when the teleprompter flashed “wrap it up” on its screen. But as a consequence, the Larian Studios head honcho forgot to announce the launch of BG3 for Xbox Series S and Series X.

To commemorate the long-awaited release of Baldur’s Gate 3 for the Xbox consoles, Larian Studios brought back Twitch Drops.

The mechanic is fairly simple. Fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 just need to watch a total of 2 hours of drop-enabled streamers of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Twitch. This campaign is available for all Baldur’s Gate 3 owners, regardless of which platform they play on. For those who missed out on the initial campaign back in August, this is a great opportunity to finally get these exclusive BG3 rewards.

In order to get the BG3 Camp Clothing Set, players have to link their Larian and Twitch accounts.

Take note that your Larian and Twitch accounts must be linked in order to redeem the Twitch Drops. Also, progress will only be tracked one-at-a-time, so watching different Baldur’s Gate 3 streams on separate devices at the same time will not work.

The Camp Clothing Set rewards included in the Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitch Drops are:

  • Channeler’s Trunks
  • Chatterbox’s Tabard
  • Periwinkle Undergarments
  • Streamhopper Loafers

The new BG3 Twitch Drops campaign will run until January 5, 2024 (4AM UK Time).

Now for the bad news: it seems Baldur’s Gate 3 players (particularly owners of the Xbox S) experienced an inconvenient glitch. After a crash occurs during gameplay, save files have been reported to simply disappear.

Fortunately, Larian Studios is on top of the situation. The developers released an update for Baldur’s Gate 3 to address this problem. The update size is about 18.28 GB and can be initiated via the System Menu. However, some players have shared that it may require a full reinstallation of the game for the update to work.

As this was a rushed update to fix the missing saves after the game crashes, Larian Studios are planning to release a more comprehensive update. This will likely be included in an upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix or a bigger Patch.

After the Xbox Series X/S release of Baldur's Gate 3, players reported their saves have gone missing when a crash occurs. Larian Studios addressed this with a quick update, though a planned Hotfix or Patch will resolve this technical issue further.

Have you purchased the Xbox X/S version of Baldur’s Gate 3? Was it worth the wait to finally go adventuring in the Forgotten Realms and see what the PC and PS5 players were raving about? What can you say about the ongoing technical issues that are affecting BG3 gameplay on the PC, PS5, and Xbox systems?
