Ubisoft keeps popping up in the news quite often these days, largely due to the Assassin’s Creed franchise – also known as the only thing keeping them afloat. Now that fans of the series have sampled the latest installment, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, all eyes are set on the next title, which appears to be Assassin’s Creed Red.

Word on the street, courtesy of a little birdie known as @BunnyTheVillain, is that the much-anticipated world premiere trailer of Assassin’s Creed Red will land as early as May. Even better, the content creator teased that Ubisoft is planning a gameplay showcase during a Ubi Forward event two months later, in July.

Hold up; we’re not done yet. BunnyTheVillain, who’s apparently a Ubisoft partner, narrowed down the expected release of Assassin’s Creed Red to November 2024, with a brave declaration that it will be “the most enjoyable game in the franchise.” Needless to say, that’s a bold assertion for a franchise filled with gems like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

Ubisoft’s ambitious goal to keep the Assassin’s Creed series fresh every year took solid form last year with the announcement of Assassin’s Creed Red. Since then, rumors have been swirling, and we’ve been on the edge of our seats, speculating about a release sooner rather than later.

While details about the upcoming title remain scarce, we can confirm that it will be set in Feudal Japan, with Ubisoft Quebec taking charge of development. Further leaks indicate that AC Red will feature two playable characters, a samurai and a shinobi, with one of the two being a female protagonist. Obviously, this is all speculation at the moment, but there’s reason to believe BunnyTheVillain’s ‘trusted source’ might just be onto something.

Earlier last year, it came to light that Ubisoft’s Brand Partnership head, Arisa Lagunzad, was seeking out sponsorship partners for AC Red in 2024. In her own words, AC Red would be the “biggest blockbuster for 2024.” If Ubisoft is indeed keen on making yearly releases of Assassin’s Creed titles, then maybe, just maybe, the timeline of events from BunnyTheVillain’s source might really be accurate.

There’s still no new information on Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the proposed central hub for the Assassin’s Creed universe. According to Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Infinity will tie the modern-day narrative (groan) of the main games together, with AC Red being the first and Assassin’s Creed Jade and Hexe joining shortly after.
