Assassin's Creed Infinity: Release date, gameplay, trailer, and more

Assassin's Creed Infinity is Ubisoft's ambitious collaboration effort between the company's multiple studios in Montreal and Quebec. It represents Ubisoft's attempt to switch up the decades-old formula of one of its most popular franchises by evolving each game "in a more integrated and collaborative manner that's less centered on studios and more focused on talent and leadership." Is Assassin's Creed Infinity the final name? Infinity isn't the final name of Ubisoft's ambitious project.

At the moment, Infinity remains the game's codename. It is still subject to change. However, according to earlier reports, Assassin's Creed Infinity will be a live-service game, but this is unconfirmed. Will Assassin's Creed Infinity be an MMO? What is a sure thing right now is that Infinity will have some kind of multiplayer component.

Details about what kind of game Assassin's Creed Infinity is going to be are scarce right now. Some say it will be a hub that players can use to play other Assassin's Creed games. Others claim that it's a multiplayer game, and some go as far as to say that it is an MMO.

Regardless of what kind of game it is going to be, ambitious probably doesn't even begin to describe Infinity's scope.

We can only hope that it doesn't crumble under the weight of expectations and end up being a worse outing for the series than Unity ever was. Where will Assassin's Creed Infinity be set? The best-case scenario is that Infinity will have multiple settings in different points throughout history.

With the way that things are going as far as leaks and speculations, Assassin's Creed Infinity looks to be a live-service game with Ubisoft releasing expansions periodically. Although we don't know when and where exactly it will be set, we do hope that it will explore these settings and more.

So far, Ubisoft has done a fine job at giving modern audiences a glimpse of what the world was like all those years ago. The studio has taken gamers on a trip through ancient Greece, London, and even fictional places like Asgard, Jotunheim, as well as Muspelheim and Zvarthalheim.

Given that the franchise has prided itself on making history its playground, we don't think that Infinity will stop at giving audiences the signature Assassin's Creed experience. Does the story of Assassin's Creed Infinity tie into the main games? Ubisoft might want to think twice about tying the story of Infinity with the main games.

Ever since Desmond Miles sacrificed himself following the end of Assassin's Creed 3 (oops, spoiler alert), the main series plot has been a convoluted mess. In fact, the real-world portions of the games have been largely forgettable. It wasn't until Origins that the series finally found its footing, with Valhalla ending on a cliffhanger.

Considering how difficult it was for the games to get back to this point, we don't think that Ubisoft will confuse audiences even further by tying Infinity up with the main games.

If we were to hazard a guess, Infinity will be composed of multiple self-contained expansions set in highly-requested timelines and places. When is the release date of Assassin's Creed Infinity? Don't expect Infinity to release until after 2024.

According to multiple sources, Ubisoft intends to release Assassin's Creed Infinity sometime in 2024. This means that Ubisoft should still release at least one more big Assassin's Creed game until then. Of course, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, plans might change and the game could be delayed even further.

Either way, what's clear is that Infinity's arrival is still a ways into the future.

As for its platform, we don't think that a next-gen console will release as early as then. It should be obvious that it is going to be exclusive to the Xbox Series S/X, PS5, and PC.
