Anne Hathaway has finally given her opinion of fans' responses to the planned third installment of the Princess Diaries series.

During a recent interview with People, the 40-year-old actress stated that she is thrilled with how fans have reacted to news of a third installment of the series. There have been discussions surrounding another installment for many years but to no avail and the fact that it might finally be happening has the Oscar winner excited, too.

In her words, "[It's] thrilling [to] see the level of excitement for it. We feel the exact same, and I know it's probably very frustrating. It's a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things."

Hathaway has long stated she is interested in reprising her role in a third installment of the film. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight in October 2022, she stated that she is pulling for a third film. She expressed optimism that they can get Dame Julie Andrews, who played her grandmother, Queen Regent Clarisse Renaldi, in the series, to return as well. "We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen," she suggested.
