Animal Crossing: New Horizons closed out 2020 in the United Kingdom as the top-selling game in physical sales. It is also the fastest-selling game to shift six million copies in Japan, which it achieved back in November 2020. As of September 2020, the game had sold over 26 million units.
Even if the sales are incredible, Nintendo is still putting effort into improving Animal Crossing: New Horizons and adding more features. In today's free January update, the Festivale event is introduced and a variety of seasonal items are now available.
