It's been nearly five years since Bethesda Game Studios released a new Fallout title. Fortunately, fans of the post-apocalyptic RPG can now look forward to a live-action TV adaptation of the franchise - and a lucky few (more than 38, though) got the privilege of watching an exclusive sneak peek.

Unveiled as an unexpected surprise by the games' lead developer, Todd Howard, and Xbox head Phil Spencer during the Starfield theater presentation at the ongoing Gamescom event, Fallout is gearing up to make its debut on Amazon's Prime Video next year.

Even though the teaser itself was kept under wraps, a leaked video clip has been circulating, offering glimpses of the footage featuring a Vertibird in flight, the Brotherhood of Steel paramilitary order, and an unknown woman emerging from the game's survival shelters known as the Vaults.

There's also a ghoul resembling lead actor Walton Goggins, and a nuclear explosion close to what appears to be Los Angeles. Adding to the buzz, Prime Video shared a promotional poster via its Twitter handle, revealing Vault 33's location within the city of Los Angeles.

Fallout is set between the 21st and 23rd centuries in an alternate timeline where nuclear war has ravaged the world, with the game's retrofuturistic gritty setting inspired by 1950s America, a time when society teetered on the cusp of technological marvels and the ever-present specter of nuclear annihilation.
