Amazon Studios has started filming its newest action-comedy Grand Death Lotto and the studio gave us our first look at the upcoming film.
Announced earlier this month, the Amazon Prime Video project will feature the likes of Paul Feig at the helm with Outside the Wire’s Rob Yescombe writing the screenplay. The director is best known for his work on action comedy movies The Heat, Spy, and Ghostbusters.

The film also includes Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ star Simu Liu alongside Seann William Scott, Dolly de Leon, Ayden Mayeri, and Donald Elise Watkins.
Grand Death Lotto is set in an “economically challenged California” in the not-so-distant future where a grand lottery has been created. This new lottery has a deadly twist in that if the lottery winner is killed by sundown, the killer can claim the jackpot prize.
The movie follows Awkwafina’s Katie who ends up with the winning ticket, putting a huge target on her back. One of her pursues are Liu’s character, Louis Lewis, who wants to claim the prize for herself. Katie then enlists Cena’s noel, an amateur jackpot protector, for help, as the two of them try to survive until sundown so she can become a billionaire.
Shang Chi fans will surely have a blast as it reunites Awkwafina with co-star Liu. The duo earned rave reviews for their onscreen chemistry in the 2021 Marvel movie.
“I love action comedy and extreme physical comedy and this movie has both in abundance, as well as a boatload of heart and hilarity,” Feig said of the upcoming film. “This lotto will make winners of us all.”
Feig will also serve as a producer for the upcoming action comedy flick along with Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum of the Roth/Kirschenbaum Films production company. Cena will be an executive producer of the movie along with Zack Roth and Yescombe.

Amazon Studios has not yet announced the release date for Grand Death Lotto.
