Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will launch soon after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which is set to arrive on October 28, 2022. While Activision has not given any official dates for Warzone 2, an internal document leak suggests that Warzone 2 will come out less than a month after the global launch of Modern Warfare 2.
Warzone 2 will also feature a new sandbox game mode inspired by Escape from Tarkov. We’ve had multiple reports about the mode over the past few months, but no official word from the developers.
However, a recent rating of Warzone 2 by the ESRB might have given us a hint on what to expect once Warzone 2 releases.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 were recently rated by the ESRB, but the ‘Rating Summary’ of Warzone 2 references battle royale, plunder, and the DMZ mode. This suggests that DMZ could launch with Warzone 2, and players might not have to wait long before experiencing the new game mode.
One of the most exciting leaks about DMZ was from Cameron Dicker earlier this month. Dicker is an NFL player for the Los Angeles Rams, and he and some other NFL players got their hands on the copy of Modern Warfare 2 early.
Dicker, possibly out of excitement and unintentionally, posted a picture of the Modern Warfare 2 menu screen on their Instagram story. The top-right corner of the menu had the words “DMZ.”
With no official word about DMZ from Activision, we can hope to learn more about it at the product showcase scheduled for September 15, 2022.
