The Eternals came out last year and wasn't well received by critics and audiences. It holds a very unique and unfortunate distinction as the first MCU film to receive a negative score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film also underperformed at the box office considering that it had big-name actors like Angelina Jolie, Selma Hayek, and Richard Madden as part of the cast. However, Marvel Studios is still interested in making a sequel for the Celestial superhero team.

The management agency for Korean actor Ma Dong-Seok, also known as Don Lee, issued a public statement promoting his upcoming projects. Among the listed projects is Eternals 2, in which the actor plays Gilgamesh, the strongest of the Eternals.

"As production on the drama 'Hive' remains unclear, Ma Dong-Seok is in discussion and planning for many movies and dramas scheduled for production next year, " the statement said. "Currently, Ma Dong-Seok is filming 'Criminal City 4'. 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters', 'Wilderness', and 'Criminal City 3' are about to be released, and 'Eternals 2' and other global projects he'll be appearing in are planned to be produced."
