Following the recent release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the anticipation of fans has quickly shifted towards the next chapter in the beloved stealth action-adventure series. Excitingly, a first glimpse of the protagonist for Assassin’s Creed Red has emerged, leaving fans eager to uncover the next thrilling installment.
A writer for Ubisoft may have unintentionally leaked a new character for Assassin’s Creed Red on his LinkedIn profile. Pierre Boudreau, an “award-winning writer for Assassin’s Creed”, updated his professional profile with a new header image showing an unknown female character with a red background. Fans have speculated that the character is a new protagonist for Assassin’s Creed Red.
We say “speculated” due to integrity reasons, but to be fair the image literally has the game logo on it, so, well, you know. Boudreau took down the header image and replaced it with one from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but not before eagle-eyed fans managed to take a screenshot. The image was later re-shared on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit by user Cygus_Lorman.

The leaked image shows a female assassin holding what seems to be a katana based on the hilt and blade profile. The distinctive Hamon pattern normally associated with katanas along with the diamond-patterned “tskua-ito” (outer wrap) can be clearly seen in the photo.
A Japanese-style Assassin’s Creed logo and a pagoda can also be seen in the image. The header image is likely part of a larger photo that has been cropped and also matches the previously released trailer for the game. In addition to the image, another Assassin’s Creed leaker shared a bit more information about the heroine.
In a Twitter post, a user called j0nathan shared that the name of the female protagonist is Naoé/Naoi (which may still change in development). According to the post, the heroine will have a similar backstory to Bayek where a member of the Order killed her father and she is looking for revenge and joins the shinobis in the process.

Previous leaks for Assassin’s Creed Red suggest that the game will have two protagonists with the other being an African Samurai. The latter could be based on a historical figure named Yasuke, a real African samurai from 16th-century Japan.
While the existence of a samurai character is still unconfirmed, we are sure that a shinobi will be the protagonist of the game based on the announcement trailer. Assassin’s Creed Red is seen as the next entry into the series after Mirage.
We will likely be seeing the new entry in about a year or two, depending on how big the game will be. However, we have to keep in mind that the game is being made by Ubisoft, a developer that has had some struggles with release schedules in recent years.
