The sophomore season of Loki is currently attracting a lot of viewers on Disney+, which shouldn’t come as a huge surprise considering the popularity of the previous season. Loki Season 2 is setting its own set of records on the platform in the wake of its debut.
The second season of Loki premiered on Disney+ last Thursday evening, following the live nighttime release model that started with Star Wars: Ahsoka. In the next three days, the first episode of Loki season 2 was viewed by millions of Marvel fans, becoming the second-biggest premiere on Disney+.
According to Disney, the first episode of Loki reached 10.9 million viewers in the first three days. The premiere for season 3 of Star Wars: Mandalorian, which premiered in March, still holds the record for the biggest debut on the streaming platform.

Season 2 of Loki continues the success that started in 2021 with the first season. This is a good sign of recovery for Marvel Studios on Disney+ after the disappointing reception of Secret Invasion last summer, as well as stumbling MCU movie releases. It is clear that the Tom Hiddleston-led show still attracts a lot of attention from fans.
Loki is the first MCU TV show to have a second season on Disney+. Hiddleston returns as the God of Mischief alongside Owen Wilson’s Mobius and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie. The sophomore season adds Ke Huy Quan, specifically headhunted for the MCU, to the TV series. Jonathan Majors returns as Victor Timely, another variant of the supervillain from the 19th century.
Loki is a unique series within the MCU as it utilizes a lot of practical sets as opposed to green screens and CGI. Kevin Wright recently talked to Comicbook.com about building the intricate sets for the Marvel TV series.

“I think it is a rhythm of production,” Wright told us. “These things, streaming shoots very fast. It shoots much quicker than our features do and something that we did in Season 1 that was started as necessity but became this great building point for us was building sets, making the world. Like, 360 builds because our cast could go in there. They knew what the world that they were getting into, and I think being able to do that, build a tangible world, you’re getting it in camera, you’re able to shoot fast.”
He adds, “I think that actors really love it and you get great performances out of them, and it just became a thing of we wanted to prioritize the look of this show production design wise, costume design, cinematography, and it’s a thing that you do have to prioritize because these are craftsmen and artists, but they can only do so much and if you’re not giving them the time and the resources, they can’t do it. So, I think that was something we just knew people liked the world we were building and it let us do it for Season 2.”
Loki is available for streaming on Disney+ with new episodes coming every Thursday night.
