We are just a month away from the premiere of the second season of Loki. Marvel just released a new trailer for the upcoming season and it looks like things are going to get crazier than ever - though topping what might have been the zaniest outing in the MCU will be a feat.
In the latest trailer, Tom Hiddleston's Loki gets pulled through various points in time and Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie warns that "everything is turning to sh**." The God of Mischief shows off some of his magical powers in the new trailer with a huge explosion of green energy. Fans have been wanting Loki to showcase his full arsenal of mystical powers in the Disney+ series since Season 1.
Jonathan Majors, currently embroiled in a criminal investigation, makes an appearance in the trailer as Victor Timely, one of the variants of Kang the Conqueror. Timely, an immortal from the 1900s, shows off some advanced technology for the time, much to the crowd's amazement.
Also appearing in the teaser are Owen Wilson's Mobius M. Mobius and Ke Huy Quan's Ouroboros "OB". The Everything Everywhere All at Once star and Academy Award winner will be making his MCU debut in the second season of Loki. The actor was invited personally by Marvel chief Kevin Feige to join the MCU after his breakout performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
The second season continues Loki's collaboration with the TVA after the events of Season 1. In the upcoming series, the God of Mischief is seemingly afflicted by a mysterious anomaly called timeslipping which causes him to be pulled through time between the past, present, and future.
Loki enlists the help of the TVA to solve the mystery and in the process encounters another Kang variant in Victor Timely, who we assume caused the anomaly. However, there are other Marvel references to get excited about as well - during the teaser, a Thor villain was briefly shown in a movie poster.
Rafael Casal plays Brad Wolfe, an actor in the movie Zaniac. In one of the previous trailers, Loki and Mobius are seen confronting Wolfe in an alleyway. Loki used his powers on the villain suggesting he is not just an actor in the TV series.
Zaniac is one of the many enemies of Loki's brother Thor in the comic books. Interestingly, the TVA seems to be chasing after Wolfe in Season 2 which means that the organization is aware that he will be a threat at some point in the timeline. It is still unclear whether Zaniac is an accomplice of Victor Timely in the TV show.
Loki Season 2 will premiere on October 6, 2023 on Disney+.
