There’s a reason Prime Video’s hit series The Boys is so popular among its fans. The American satirical superhero series not only boasts an exceptional cast but also excels at keeping its audience engaged by offering doses of uproarious banter on social media.
Last week, there was quite a stir on Twitter after Jack Quaid, who plays Hughie Campbell in The Boys, debunked rumors suggesting he’d been cast in the role of Johnny Storm in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. It didn’t take long for Prime Video’s official Twitter page to seize the moment.
The account responded to this false casting buzz with a tweet captioned, “He’s already in a pretty fantastic four.” Not to be outdone, The Boys’ official page joined in the banter, sharing an image from Season 2 depicting Lamplighter dramatically setting himself ablaze, all while Hughie looks on in horror, with the caption, “Flame On, mates.”

Jack Quiad isn’t the first actor to be linked to the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Aftersun’s star Paul Mescal, Dev Patel, Matt Smith, Tom Ellis, Saoirse Ronan, Penn Badgley, Mila Kunis, Jodie Comer, and many others have all been speculated as top contenders for different roles in the film. The rumor that seems to persist the most is the one involving Adam Driver, who is supposedly lined up to portray Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic).
The film, which will be directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman with a script penned by Josh Friedman, was gearing up to start filming in January next year. However, these preparations have been derailed due to the ongoing strikes by writers and actors that have halted numerous Hollywood productions.
And even without these strikes throwing a wrench in the works, Disney had already announced its plans to readjust its schedule for upcoming releases. As a result, the initial February 2025 launch date for Fantastic Four was shifted to May 2025.

This will mark the second reboot for the Fantastic Four franchise, and Marvel Studios undoubtedly intends to approach it with caution, ensuring they avoid the missteps of the 2015 reboot that turned out to be a colossal box office disaster. Fortunately, the news that Kevin Feige is heavily involved in the casting process is a good sign that the studio has learned its lesson.
