Filming for Deadpool 3 is in full swing as the movie has moved up its release schedule. Without any trailers or other promotional material, snooping photographers are our only source – and now fresh set photos reveal that the Merc with a Mouth sports a new outfit in the threequel.
Fans got a first look at Ryan Reynolds in costume on the set of Deadpool 3. The new photos of the actor were shared by The Daily Mirror while the actor was in the middle of filming a car crash scene for the upcoming movie.
Based on the new photos, Reynolds’ suit looks a tad bit more vibrant than in previous movies. Deadpool typically goes for more muted colors for his suit, and even reference his grey X-force outfit in Deadpool 2. The antihero also explained in the first movie why he chose a deep red color for his costume.
“You may be wondering, why the red suit? Well, that’s so bad guys can’t see me bleed. This guy’s got the right idea. He wore the brown pants,” Deadpool explains in his typical comedic fashion.

The brighter red outfit may be just the lighting on set during filming. However, it also matches the brighter color palette of the Marvel logo. It is also likely that we are seeing just a bare costume at the moment. The production team may also add other CGI effects to the suit later on in post-production.
Filming for Deadpool 3 is reportedly taking place in the UK. Reynolds may have moved the production to the country so he can fulfill his commitments with Wrexham AFC. The actor bought the professional football club with partner Rob McElhenney in 2021.
Who else is in Deadpool 3?
The upcoming movie marks the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine since Logan was released in 2017. It can be recalled that Logan sacrificed himself in the movie to protect the young X-23. Jackman announced his retirement during the production of the movie but was convinced by Reynolds to return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
Most of the Deadpool film series mainstays are returning in Deadpool 3. Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), and Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) are part of the X-Men team in the third movie. There are rumors that other X-Men like Halle Berry’s Storm, Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, and James Marsden’s Cyclops will be part of the upcoming film.
Deadpool 3 may also serve as the MCU debut for Channing Tatum. There are rumors that Tatum will finally get his shot at playing Gambit in the movie. Tatum was original cast as the superhero in 2014 but the project was stuck in development hell at 20th Century Fox.
Morena Baccarin will be returning as Vanessa in the upcoming film alongside Leslie Uggams’ Blind Al and Karan Soni’s Dopinder. Rob Delaney is also reprising his role as Pete in the movie, which will bring Deadpool into the MCU proper for the first time.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled for release on May 4, 2024.
