Deadpool has always been tied to the X-Men with Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead being series mainstays. But, while the previous films featured limited participation from other X-men characters, the latest rumor suggests Deadpool 3 will change this.
According to the entertainment insider CanWeGetSomeToast, Wolverine isn't the only member of the X-Men making an MCU debut in Deadpool 3. The leaker shared that Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops will be part of the third movie for the Merc with a Mouth.
"Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine won’t be the only X-Man returning in #Deadpool3!" the insider tweeted. "Halle Berry, Famke Janssen and James Marsden will also reprise their roles as their Storm, Jean Gray, and Cyclops respectively."

Longtime X-Men star Hugh Jackman already announced that he was retiring from the role of Wolverine after 2017’s Logan. However, the actor was convinced by Deadpool lead Ryan Reynolds to return as the mutant in Deadpool 3. The two had previously shared the big screen as their respective characters in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
It was also just last year that Patrick Stewart’s Professor X made a brief cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While Stewart played a variant of the character in another multiverse, his cameo, and Jackman’s starring role may have paved the way for more X-Men to be part of the MCU.
Don't forget, Stewart recently teased that he may return as Professor X in the MCU as well.
Finally, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige addressed the addition of mutants to the MCU when Namor debuted in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Feige said that Deadpool 3 brings the X-Men closer to making an appearance in the MCU with Wolverine’s debut in the upcoming film.
The rumored casting of Famke Janssen as Jean Grey is interesting as Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner took over the role in more recent X-Men movies. Janssen said she could not imagine returning to the role of Jean Grey in the MCU but did express interest in returning.
"It'd be great [to come back], but let's just see how life goes," the actor said.
James Marsden is also interested in reprising his role as Scott Summers aka Cyclops if it was offered to him.
As for Halle Berry, the actor stirred up the rumor mill as she shared a photo of herself on Twitter sporting white hair reminiscent of her character Ororo Munroe aka Storm just as Deadpool 3 started filming. Fans speculate that she is either teasing a comeback as Storm or a new Catwoman project.
Marvel will likely not be officially confirming the actors’ participation in Deadpool 3 until the very last minute. However, we hope for Ryan Reynolds to spill the beans on the upcoming movie soon.
Deadpool 3 is coming to theaters on November 8, 2024.
