Fans have been asking about Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio ever since Deadpool 3 was announced. Now, we've received confirmation that the duo will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Deadpool and Wolverine in the upcoming film.
Deadline reports that Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna have closed deals to join Ryan Reynold and Hugh Jackman in Deadpool 3. Hildebrand will be appearing in her third Deadpool movie as Negasonic Teenage Warhead while Kutsuna will return for her second film as Yukio. It was revealed in Deadpool 2 that Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio are in a relationship.
The pair had supporting roles in Deadpool 2 but had one very important scene that explains how Wade Wilson ended up in the MCU. It does make perfect sense for the duo to return for Deadpool 3 as they may have unwittingly triggered the events of the upcoming movie.
During the post-credits scene for Deadpool 2, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio were the ones who gave Deadpool the time travel device previously owned by Cable, which he used to alter the course of history.
Wilson went back in time to save his wife, Vanessa, paving the way for Morena Baccarin’s return in the upcoming sequel. Deadpool went on a time-traveling spree, recruiting Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to the MCU and killing a previous variant of himself in the process.
Jackman revealed that time travel was one of the reasons why he signed up to reprise his role as Logan in Deadpool 3. The actor explains that by using time travel, Marvel Studios was able to avoid messing with the plot of Logan which is very important to him.
While much of the plot for the film is under wraps, there have been rumors that the time travel device will be the MacGuffin for Deadpool 3 and tie into the whole Multiverse saga. Wilson’s time-traveling antics may have created a Nexus event leading to Deadpool being targeted by the Time Variance Authority. Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius will reportedly be part of Deadpool 3 alongside Miss Minutes.
Aside from Hildebrand and Kutsuna, cast members Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Stefan Kapičić, and Rob Delaney will also be making a return to the upcoming sequel. Zazie Beetz’s Dominio has not yet confirmed her return in the upcoming film. Josh Brolin’s Cable is the other character that hasn’t been confirmed for Deadpool 3. It would certainly be possible for Brolin to return as his previous MCU character Thanos was killed during the Avengers: Endgame.
Emma Corrin has been cast as the antagonist for Deadpool 3. Marvel has yet to announce which villain the actor will be playing.
Shawn Levy is set to direct Deadpool 3 with Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese returning to write the screenplay with Reynolds. Marvel’s Kevin Feige, Reynolds, and Levy will serve as producers of the movie.
Deadpool 3 is coming to theaters on November 8, 2024.
