RUMOR: Seth Rollins’ Role Cut from Captain America 4

Seth Rollins' role being cut out of Captain America: New World Order is just the latest in a long line of issues that have plagued the film.

Seth Rollins was supposed to be the latest WWE superstar to have a role in a comic-book film, but that seems to be no longer the case.

The reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion filmed his scenes for Captain America: New World Order last year as, presumably, the leader of the Serpent Society. In the comic books, members of the said group, led by Sidewinder, wear costumes and have identities based on different types of snakes.

Unfortunately, as per @CanWeGetToast, the villain group’s part in Captain America 4 has been cut from the movie.

According to the leaks, the Serpent Society would’ve been prominently featured in the first major action piece in the next Captain America film, with Captain America, the new Falcon, and Isaiah Bradley, all working together to take them down.

However, the MCU’s version of the Serpent Society was supposedly going to be a group of people from the Middle East who want to terrorize a neighboring country – a big no-no given the on-going world issues.

While the MCU’s decision to try and minimize any dalliances with controversial issues is understandable if expected, it doesn’t change the fact that Anthony Mackie’s time as the MCU’s new Captain America can’t seem to catch a break. The Falcon and Winter Soldier, in particular, had to go to through massive cuts and reshoots because the original plan was for the show to feature a group of villains who would release a virus, causing a global pandemic.

Ironically, Seth Rollins isn’t the only wrestler in the household to see their MCU roles cut. His wife, Becky Lynch, was part of a post-credits scene for Eternals, but this ended up being cut due to its “depressing” nature.

WWE superstars crossing over into superhero movies are par for the course. The most notable roles include Kevin Nash in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the ooze, Macho Man Randy Savage in Spider-Man, Batista as Drax in the MCU, and of course, The Rock and John Cena as Black Adam and Peacemaker, respectively.

Seth Rollins recently issued a challenge to Cody Rhodes to face him at WrestleMania 40 over Roman Reigns.

After several delays, Captain America: New World Order is now set to premiere on February 14, 2025.

As for Rollins, he’s expected to defend the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 in April.
