After Microsoft and Sony, it’s finally Nintendo’s turn to showcase what its plans are for the foreseeable future in what will be its first Direct event this year.
While the Nintendo Direct remains unconfirmed as of the time of writing, several sources confirm that it’s coming. One of them is billbil-kun, who claims that a Nintendo Direct is coming soon with a potential shadow drop of an unnamed game.
But that’s not all. A Redditor brought evidence pointing to the name of the said game and it has fans excited.

It isn’t unusual for video game companies to release unconfirmed and unannounced games to unexpecting audiences. Last year, Xbox turned heads with Hi-Fi Rush, an Xbox exclusive that won the hearts of fans and critics alike by year’s end. Nintendo jumped on the bandwagon with the release of Metroid Prime Remastered.
Both of these releases came at their respective showcases in early 2023, which, ironically, are referred to as “Direct.”
For this year’s upcoming showcase, Nintendo has a less critically acclaimed but equally fun title in store as a surprise for those who will tune in to the event.
As pointed out by GamePrime99, Nintendo is planning to release Penny’s Big Breakaway. The developers of this endearing indie title holds a special place in the hearts of indie fans – they’re Sonic fans known within the community for fan-created titles and ROM hacking who eventually banded together to create Sonic Mania.
Nintendo continues to stay silent about its plans for the foreseeable future. In particular, fans remain curious about its next console, particularly its release date. In the place of the lack of official announcements, several insiders and video game companies have shed some light on Nintendo’s newest platform. Electronic Arts, in particular, seems fairly optimistic about the improvements that it will bring over the Switch, which remains the third-best-selling video game console of all time.
