Netflix has released new images from the forthcoming fourth season of its psychological thriller television series titled You. The streamer unveiled these stills via its official Instagram account, with the caption, “joe on a hunting trip… this should end well.”
The images show the fan-favorite serial killer character, Joe Goldberg, and two of his students in a misty forest for a hunting session as each of them carries a hunting rifle. However, what would have otherwise been a harmless hunting trip seems potentially sinister given the show’s context.
Netflix released the official trailer for the forthcoming show in January following some teasers posted last year. The trailer showed Joe trying to leave his past behind after the events of the third season. The new season will see the obsessed stalker and serial killer in London where he has assumed a new name and is now teaching at a prestigious London university. However, it seems he is destined for a life of turmoil as an unknown killer, branded the Eat the Rich killer, picks off members of his new circle one after the other.
Also, the new season will see Joe in an unfamiliar role: that of the hunted, as he seemingly gets a note from a stalker who might be after his life. It is unknown whether the stalker is the same person as the Eat the Rich killer or another person entirely. Regardless, Joe will put on an investigator’s hat and do his best to discover the killer.
Furthermore, You season 4 will see Joe keep up his pursuit of Marienne, who spurned his advances in the third season, and contend with one or two new love interests.
You is based on Caroline Kepnes’ book series of the same name. The psychological thriller series was developed for television by Sera Gamble, who doubles as showrunner, and Greg Berlanti. The show initially aired on Showtime before moving to Netflix where it has since established itself as one of the platform’s biggest properties with impressive critical reviews and commercial success.
You Season 4 will see Penn Badgley reprise his role as Joe Goldberg. Apart from him, other members of the cast include Tati Gabrielle, Lukas Gage, Charlotte Ritchie, Tilly Keeper, Amy-Leigh Hickman, and Ed Speelers. Badgley also served as one of the directors, alongside John Scott alongside Shamim Sarif, Harry Jierjian, and Rachel Leiterman.
Netflix will release You Season 4 in two parts with the first premiering on February 9 while the second will premiere a month after on March 9.
