The Metal Gear franchise is very popular among gamers as one of the best stealth adventure video game series. However, Konami hasn’t been able to recreate the formula that made the franchise successful after a falling out with game director Hideo Kojima.
Since then, there have been a lot of rumors about remakes of the original Metal Gear games. The most recent rumor suggested that Konami is working on a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. This latest rumor comes from singer Donna Burke, the artist that performed the beloved “Snake Eater” theme song.
Burke shared a picture on Twitter where she is seen in a recording studio while holding up a folder with the “Snake Eater” artwork. Fans quickly assumed that the artist was working on a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. Burke later clarified that the recording did not have anything to do with a remake of the popular video game.
Mason Lieberman, a video game soundtrack composer working with Burke in the recording studio, also said that the project is not related to Metal Gear Solid. However, an album is being made for video game lovers.
“There you have it, folks. You’ll know more of what [Donna Burke] and I are working on within the next few months, anyways,” Lieberman tweets. “It’s NOT an MGS project whatsoever, but it IS a special album for video game music lovers. Lots of amazing guests to announce. More soon!”

It may be disappointing for fans to hear that the rumors are not true. However, it only debunks the rumor related to Burke’s recording session. It does not mean that all other Metal Gear Solid 3 remake rumors are false.
Konami has been working on smaller projects in recent years. Many fans of its video game franchise such as Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Metal Gear have been wondering if the studio has plans to revive these video game series.
Well, Konami has announced that it is returning to the Silent Hill franchise with several projects being developed. The studio is working on a remake of Silent Hill 2 as well as a new title in Silent Hill F.
With Konami working on Silent Hill projects, gamers hope that it will be Metal Gear’s turn in the near future. It may be difficult to pull off a remake without enigmatic director Hideo Kojima onboard. Kojima has founded an independent studio and is working on a sequel to Death Stranding and an untitled Xbox Game Studios game.
Hopefully, Konami does sort things out and start work on a new Metal Gear title. Even if the rumors were debunked, it shows us that many fans are still interested in the series.
