Bloober Team, the Polish video game studio renowned for its terrifying horror titles, will turn 15 soon. To celebrate this milestone, the studio has announced it will release a free DLC for its 2023 Layers of Fear remake.
In a post to its X account, the company wrote, “Bloober Team is excited to announce that a new and free chapter will soon be released for all #LayersOfFear owners, to be made available on the 24th of October, coinciding with the studio’s birthday. Lights! Camera! Action!”

The studio’s announcement was met with enthusiasm by fans with many of them lauding the decision to make the content free. Some also used the opportunity to ask for a VR version, although there is no indication that Bloober Team has any plan for that.
The Layers of Fear title is part remake and part sequel as it combines content from the first two installments in the series with new content. When Bloober Team released the game in June, it was well received by fans and critics alike. So, it is only befitting that the studio has chosen an expansion for it to celebrate its 15th anniversary.
Alongside the free content and to promote the Layers of Fear game series, the studio released a new and horror-worthy take on the timeless Jimmy Cash song titled You Are My Sunshine. It collaborated with the Polish musical artist Natalia Szroeder for this and also released a video in support.
Given the soulfulness of the song, as well as the chilliness of its video, it would seem that Bloober Team achieved its objectives.
Speaking on the musical collaboration, Piotr Babieno, who heads Bloober Team said, “Together with Natalia, we wanted to create something special. Natalia is one of the most talented young singers in the music scene, and it was very important for us to hear her voice in this new interpretation of the song because we believed it would add a mysterious character to it, and it certainly did.”
Although Bloober Team is an independent studio, it is renowned for its horror titles. Apart from Layers of Fear, it’s also behind other popular horror titles like The Medium, Observer, and Blair Witch. It is also working on a remake of the popular Konami horror title Silent Hill 2, originally announced last year.
Earlier this year, Babieno announced the game is almost ready while admitting the decision on its release lies with the game’s publisher and the owners of the property, Konami. In what seems to be a confirmation of his claim, eagle-eyed gamers noticed a flurry of activity on the game’s Steam page earlier this month.
The Layers of Fear expansion will arrive on October 24. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
