Fans celebrated Activision’s announcement of the Call of Duty: Warzone mobile port last year with. The 2020 title was a breakout hit during the COVID-19 pandemic and it remains popular until today, even getting a “sequel” that replaced it. More importantly, it impressed critics and received two nominations for that year’s Game Awards – Best Multiplayer Game and Best Ongoing Game.

Activision’s CEO revealed earlier this year that the game will arrive this fall. Unfortunately, the studio can no longer make that window. On Thursday, during the Call of Duty Next event, the studio said it is pushing the game’s release to next year.

You are probably asking “Why is Activision doing this?” Thanks to Charlie Intel, we know the studio delayed the game to ensure it is fully ready before release. Activision’s co-studio head Chris Plummer told the publication, “We have a few more things we want to polish up before we release around the world in spring of 2024.”

In a separate blog post, the studio announced it will release the Rebirth Island map on Day One of the game’s launch. The map is the second fan-favorite map that Activision will release after Verdansk.

The post read, “This fan-favorite Call of Duty: Warzone map that has been painstakingly and specially built for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile combines some of the best elements of Battle Royale and Multiplayer into one thrilling experience sure to provide fans with another dose of amazing, frenetic action.

Activision promises Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will “redefine Battle Royale for gamers on the go,” as it plans to render the game at a higher fidelity, reduce the install footprint, and refine customization options among other things.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is a title many gamers have been really anticipating and this news is the source of massive disappointment. Despite this, it’s better to delay it and release an excellent game with no hitch than one with plenty of glitches.

Even though Warzone Mobile hasn’t been released, 45 million people from across the globe have already pre-registered for it. This number is impressive and demonstrates the popularity of the game. You can also pre-register by visiting the Warzone Mobile website here. Although we don’t know what they are, Activision promises “awesome rewards” for those who do this.

By the way, Activision has been rolling out the game in some countries, including Australia, Sweden, Norway, and Chile. The limited release will help the company test the game and identify the kinks they need to work out.

With that feedback, the development team can make improvements where necessary and ensure the full release will be able to provide a remarkable experience to gamers.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will arrive during Spring 2024.
