It definitely looks like there’s still going to be a new Call of Duty installment later this year.
Just like clockwork, Activision will be releasing its nth annual Call of Duty entry, presumably in time for the holiday season. This is according to a recent leak, saying that Sledgehammer Games’ next Call of Duty will be revealed in August. Also, the same source claims that Activision will reveal this year’s Call of Duty in Call of Duty: Warzone 2, similar to what it did with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard.
But, that’s not all. It’s believed that this year’s Call of Duty will bring back the much-loved Zombies mode.
The fan-favorite mode adds an extra layer of adventure and excitement to each Call of Duty entry. Previously, the Zombies mode was exclusive to Call of Duty games by Treyarch, but this has changed in recent years.
Bringing the Zombies mode back for another non-Treyarch entry suggests that Activision saw a reason to do so after its latest attempt.
According to Insider Gaming, Call of Duty fans will want to circle the date below:
- October 6-10 – first beta weekend for the PS4 and PS5
- October 12-16 – first beta weekend for all platforms
- November 2 – Early Access to the single-player campaign
- November 10 – Full release
With its impending release and the return of Zombies mode, this year’s Call of Duty is in prime position to take the gaming world again by storm. But, there are naysayers who believe that Call of Duty is better off taking a hiatus for this year. Unlike in the past, which this sentiment was also common, there’s valid reason for this – both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 aren’t in the best state despite the latest update.
To make matters worse, Sledgehammer’s last outing, Vanguard, wasn’t received well.
We’ll have to wait to find out more about the next Call of Duty. For now, Call of Duty fans will want to pay attention to how the Activision Blizzard purchase is going.
Speaking of Call of Duty, Season 3 recently arrived, bringing with it a plethora of new features, including an operator skin based on the NBA superstar, Kevin Durant.
