Assassin’s Creed Mirage haptic shirt makes players feel every stab

Haptic feedback from controllers may not be enough for some players.

The new wearable will allow players feel the sensations of a successful takedown.

OWO is giving players a chance to have a truly immersive experience in Assassin’s Creed. The company has developed a shirt that lets players feel every sensation that the character feels on screen.

The company is partnering with Ubisoft and developed a wearable shirt called the OWO Haptic Gaming System specifically for Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. This high-tech shirt gives players physical feedback that coincides with the player’s actions in the game. The Haptic Gaming System will be compatible with Assassin’s Creed: Mirage on all platforms.

According to OWO’s website, the shirt allows players to “feel your precise movements when you take down your targets.” On the other hand, gamers wearing the shirt will also feel the consequences of failing to block or dodge an oncoming attack. We imagine a punch from an enemy wouldn’t really hurt but it will give you a certain sensation of being punched.

The official description reads, “Using the OWO System, you will be able to feel your precise movements when you take down your targets. But beware! They are out to get you. Don’t let your enemies get too close or you will feel the consequences.”

The Haptic Gaming System uses an algorithm that adjusts nine wave parameters to simulate interactions ranging from the wind to daggers. Players can calibrate sensations in specific games using a mobile app. Gamers also have the option to customize the experience by using their own feedback profile.

While the shirt has the Assassin’s Creed branding, we expect it to be compatible with other games. The standard version of the wearable is compatible with Fortnite, PUBG, League of Legends, Valorant, and more.

Pricing for the Assassin’s Creed: Mirage Edition is still not yet available. However, we expect it to be more or less on par with the standard edition shirt which retails for $560. It will take up to three months for the shirt to arrive after ordering.

The Assassin’s Creed: Mirage edition of the Haptic Gaming System will include a game code for the upcoming title.

The wearable technology isn’t new and has been available mainly for immersive VR titles and is mainly experimental in nature. However, partnering with a popular gaming franchise like Assassin’s Creed may lead to more studios adopting the technology.

We can imagine pairing the Haptic Gaming System with the new PS VR2 headset on a title like Gran Truism 7 or Horizon Call of the Mountain would be a really cool experience. Hopefully, the partnership with Ubisoft becomes successful enough for other developers to notice.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S later this year.
