Ubisoft is lending one of its best games to the Xbox Game Pass for June alongside one of its more underrated multiplayer games.
2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins and For Honor: Marching Fire are all coming to Microsoft’s video game subscription service starting on June 1 and 3, respectively. The Game Pass is also welcoming several other games to its lineup for the month June.
Here’s a complete list of all that’s coming to the Xbox Game Pass by June 15:
- For Honor: Marching Fire Edition (Console, PC, Cloud) – June 1
- Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection (Console and PC) – June 2
- Assassin’s Creed Origins (Console, PC, and Cloud) – June 7
- Chorus (Cloud, Console, and PC) ID@Xbox – June 7
- Disc Room (Cloud, Console, and PC) ID@Xbox – June 7
- Spacelines from the Far Out (Console and PC) ID@Xbox – June 7
- Shadowrun Trilogy: Console Edition (Console) – June 21
- Escape Academy (Console) – June 28
Origins reinvented Ubisoft’s best-selling stealth adventure franchise, adding an open-world twist with RPG mechanics. Origins is where the current trend of Assassin’s Creed started. If the rumors are true that Ubisoft is going back to the series’ roots, playing through Origins would be a great way to experience when Assassin’s Creed wasn’t too all-in on its open-world setting yet.
As for Marching Fire, Ubisoft described it as the “biggest and most ambitious update ever” for For Honor. The 2018 expansion brings the Wu Lin faction into the foray as well as five characters such as Tiandi (Vanguard), Jiang Jun (Heavy), Nuxia (Assassin), Shaolin and Shanu (Hybrid). Don’t worry, this isn’t just a multiplayer title. This For Honor build comes with the solo/multiplayer endless PvE Arcade mode, as well as the eight-player, 4v4 PvP playlist, and Breach.
Unfortunately, just as the Game Pass will welcome a handful of new games, it’s also saying goodbye to others on June 15, namely:
- Darkest Dungeon (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Greedfall (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Limbo (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Worms Rumble (Cloud, Console, and PC)
Game Pass hasn’t had the best outing in recent months. In addition to Assassin’s Creed Origins and For Honor: Marching Fire Edition, the last notable release on the platform was Pac-Man Museum+. To make matters worse, Starfield and Redfall aren’t coming out later this year, leaving Game Pass wanting for big releases.
On the other hand, Sony is poised to make a splash with its new PlayStation Plus service.
The verdict is still out on how much better the PS Plus Premium library is going to become by the time Sony is done rolling it out across the world in late June, but the combination of Ubisoft Plus Classics, as well as classic PS games and third-party titles on top of best-selling PlayStation games, are generating talks of a proper Game Pass competitor.
Although Sony is still very much against the practice of releasing new games on the PS Plus on day one, it’s all but guaranteed that the company’s top billers are headed to the service a year or two after hitting the market.
Speaking of, God of War will reportedly headline the PS Plus freebies lineup for June 2022.
