With the conclusion of SAG-AFTRA, actors are now stepping into the spotlight to promote their upcoming projects. The most notable of them all is Ryan Reynolds, who’s gone back to teasing and dropping hints about Deadpool 3, even revealing a new cameo for the movie.
Reynolds celebrated the end of the Actors’ strike by sharing on X that Dogpool will be appearing in the threequel. The actor also confirmed that the movie will definitely be coming in the summer of 2024. Deadpool 3 may be the only Marvel movie coming next year.

For those who are unfamiliar with obscure Marvel lore (which, to be honest, is most people), Dogpool was created when a scientist used a dog for an experiment to create an eternal youth product. The scientist discarded the body of the dog believing that it didn’t survive the experiment and was discovered by a circus performer. The dog gained superpower and was ultimately recruited by Wade Wilson to join the Deadpool Corps.
Aside from Dogpool, Deadpool 3 will feature a ton of characters debuting in the MCU. Both Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic are coming back to reprise their characters, Vanessa and Colossus alongside Shiori Kutsuna’s Yukio and Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Several X-Men including Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops are also part of the film.
Channing Tatum is rumored to finally play Gambit for Deadpool 3 while Jennifer Garner may be returning as Elektra. It’s believed that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are returning as Professor X and Magneto. Finally, there are talks that Taylor Swift will cameo.
The movie started filming in May in London. We saw some leaked photos from the production with Deadpool and Wolverine fighting each other. Deadpool 3 will feature a comic book-accurate costume for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
The production crew got 50% of the movie done by the time the SAG-AFTRA strike started in July. As a result, the movie was moved from its May 3, 2024 release date to the summer. During the interim, director Shawn Levy talked about his excitement for the film and the dynamic between his two stars.
“Well, like the rest of our industry, or at least large swaths of it, we are paused,” Levy said at the time. “We were halfway through filming Deadpool, co-starring Wolverine. It was a joy every day, and that chemistry is, I have to say — spoiler alert — it is as relentlessly awesome as we had all hoped it would be.”
Deadpool 3 is coming in the summer of 2024.
