The first season of Castlevania: Nocturne ended on a cliffhanger leaving the door open for Richter Belmont and his crew to return. It looks like the stage is set for the vampire hunting party to continue their adventures in a second season.
After the success of the first season of Castlevania: Nocturne, Netflix announced that Season 2 has been greenlit. This is hardly surprising as the animated series debuted in the Top 10 English TV shows on the streaming platform. The first season also holds an approval rating of 100% on Metacritic.
Netflix already released a brief teaser for Season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne. The short 25-second trailer features a brief production footage from the animated series and teases the return of Richter Belmont, Maria Renard, and Annette as they continue their war against demons. Sam and Adam Deats will be returning to direct the second season with studios Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animations producing the project.
Netflix has not provided additional details for the plot of the second season. However, showrunners Bradley and Kolde did tease that the upcoming season will continue to chronicle the “rise of Richter Belmont.”
“Thanks to all of the Castlevania fans old and new for the amazing response and support,” a statement from Castlevania: Nocturne showrunners Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde reads. “We are excited to be able to bring you more Castlevania: Nocturne and the next chapter in the rise of Richter Belmont.”

The first season followed Belmont as he started his career as a vampire hunter. Belmont along with his allies team up to stop the rise of a new vampire messiah, Erzsebet Báthory, who plans to drown out the suns so that vampires are free to rule the world.
The official synopsis reads: “New series focusing on Richter Belmont origin story feat. vampires in the French Revolution. The gory and gothic adventures of the Castlevania franchise continue with an exciting new setting and their highest stakes yet. A gripping story of love and loss, Nocturne marks an evolution to the original fan-favorite Castlevania Netflix Series. Featuring a never before seen origin story of Richter Belmont (gaming icon, and one of the Franchise’s most beloved characters).”
Netflix hasn’t announced an official release date for the second season of Castlevania: Nocturne. We expect that Season 2 will arrive in 2025 at the earliest.
