As the Writers’ strike ends, Marvel is reportedly preparing to hear pitches for the upcoming X-Men debut in the MCU. However, it may not include the most popular character from the mutant team.
According to a new rumor from reliable insider CanWeGetSomeToast, Logan will not be part of the X-Men reboot. The leaker suggests that Marvel is pushing X-Men content on all mediums to hype up the return of the much-loved mutant team to the big screen.
The current idea to reboot the X-Men in the MCU does NOT feature Wolverine on the team,” CanWeGetSomeToast tweeted. “There’s a reason why Marvel is starting to push the X-Men so hard across all mediums, and will continue to push them until they’re on the big screen.”

The insider revealed that Marvel Studios may be following the canon debut of the X-Men from the comics. The user adds that the team was formed before the Wolverine and the MCU just recently added Adamantium as a substance in the universe. This means that Wolverine will join the team later on, perhaps in a subsequent movie.
“The Weapon X program has to be formed before Wolverine joins the team, and Adamantium JUST appeared in the MCU,” the insider shared. “It honestly might be a while before Logan joins up with the X-Men.”
Logan first appeared in The Incredible Hulk comic books as a background character. His role was later expanded when he was recruited to be part of the Giant-Size X-Men by Professor X to rescue the original X-Men from the island of Krakoa. It was revealed later on that Logan joined the team to assassinate Charles Xavier but his memories were wiped before he could perform the task.
Interestingly, the small Pacific Island is depicted in the comic books as a living island with a collective consciousness. There have been rumors that the upcoming Thunderbolts movie will see a team of anti-heroes and villains venture into an island that used to be the Celestial Tiamut before it was killed by the Eternals. The island holds a vast amount of adamantium from the dead Celestial and something in the island will reportedly cause one of the Thunderbolts, rumored to be Sentry, to turn on the rest of the team.

It will be interesting how Marvel weaves Wolverine into the story given his popularity as a character. If the studio does intend to introduce him later on, a different actor may end up playing the role of Logan given that Hugh Jackman has already said that he is only returning for Deadpool 3.
Wolverine will be the second X-Men to debut in the MCU after Professor X with his role in the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie. Jackman will star alongside Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming film which is slated to release in May. However, the filming for Deadpool 3 is currently on hold as the Actors’ strike is still ongoing.
Deadpool 3 is coming to theatres on May 3, 2024.
