The John Wick universe is expanding even with his presumed death in the most recent movie. Peacock just revealed the first look at the upcoming prequel The Continental. The prequel series is set to premiere on the streaming platform next month.
The Continental focuses on Winston before his time as the hotel manager and close associate of John Wick. The series will follow his journey as he works to elevate his status in the underworld and eventually the position of manager, getting closer to the high table.
Colin Woodel stars as the protagonist Winston Scott in the prequel series. The trailer reveals that Cormac, played by Mel Gibson, runs The Continental of New York in the 1970s. Ayomide Adegun plays as a young Charon, prior to becoming the concierge of the hotel.
In the trailer, Cormac enlists the help of Winston to retrieve something that was stolen by Frankie, Winston’s own brother. Instead of working for Cormac, Winston gathers a crew to help him overthrow the manager of The Continental.
The teaser video promises audiences an action-packed series with “lots of guns.” Gibson’s presence in the series gives viewers a villain worthy of a John Wick prequel. It will be fun to see how Winston and his motley crew plan to take on such a man of influence in the underworld. The Continental managers in the John Wick universe wield substantial power and enforce strict laws on sacred grounds.
Woodel, Adegun, and Gibson are joined by Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles, Jessica Allain as Lou, Mishel Prada as KD, Nhung Kate as Yen, Peter Greene as Uncle Charlie, and Jeremy Bobb as Mayhew. Ben Robson is cast as Frankie, brother to Winston. Sallay Garnett plays the 1970s concierge of the hotel.
The Continental was created and written by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons. Ken Kristensen also serves as a writer for the series. The prequel TV show is directed by Albert Hughes and Charlotte Brändström. Chad Stahelski and David Leitch from the John Wick series serve as executive producers along with Coolidge, Ward, Basil Iwanyk, Albert Hughes, and Derek Kolstad.

The Continental will air as a three-part event starting September 22. The event will continue on September 29, and October 6 – and there’s more on the way. The upcoming series is just one of the spin-offs set in the John Wick Universe.
Fans are also excited for the premiere of Ballerina on June 7, 2024. The upcoming movie stars Ana de Armas as Rooney, a young assassin from the Ruska Roma family. John Wick mainstays Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, and the late Lance Reddick are joining the cast of the spin-off.
