Loki Season 2 trailer sets viewership record for Disney+ shows

The first trailer for the sophomore season has surpassed 80 million views online.

Season 2 of Loki is already breaking records.

The first season of Loki is the most-watched series on Disney+. And it looks like the second season will be breaking more records on the streaming platform.

The new trailer for the upcoming season was released on Monday and quickly racked up views online. According to a report by Deadline, the first teaser for the upcoming season set a new milestone by becoming the most viewed online trailer debut by a series on Disney+ with over 80 million views in just twenty-four hours.

Just to make it clear, this is a combined total of views across all platforms. The trailer on Youtube has over 10.7 million views while the video was seen by 9.1 million users on Twitter. The teaser posted on the official Marvel Studios page on Facebook has been played 10.1 million times while the video on the official page of the Loki series has been viewed 10.3 million times.

The new trailer sees Tom Hiddleston’s Loki experiencing a glitch called “time slipping.” The Asgardian is seen traveling uncontrollably through timelines where he sees and learns new things. Owen Wilson’s Mobious and MCU newcomer Ke Huy Quyan’s Ouroboros try to figure out this time glitch and try to fix it.

The video also reveals a new variant of Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror called Victor Timely. The Kang variant looks to be the big villain in the series. Timely is an immortal much like other variants and is seemingly the cause of the “time slipping” phenomenon.

Also seen in the trailer are cast memebers Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, and Neil Ellice. Sophia Di Martino is also reprising her role as Sylvie, a Loki variant that broke the timeline and caused the creation of the Multiverse.

Loki and Mobius are again teaming up in the second season to fix a time glitch and face off against Victor Timely.

Fan reaction to the new trailer has been extremely positive on social media. Many are excited to see a continuation of Loki’s misadventures across time in the upcoming season.

Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw, and Kasra Farahani directed Loki Season 2 episodes.  Eric Martin is the lead writer for the series. Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin R. Wright, Hiddleston, Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Eric Martin, and Michael Waldron are executive producers of the show, with Trevor Waterson serving as co-executive producer.

Loki season 2 is coming to Disney+ on October 6.
