Prime Video unveils Invincible Season 2 trailer and release date at SDCC

Invincible Season 2 has been a long time coming and, if the trailer is anything to go by, will have been worth the wait.

Invincible first landed on our screens in March 2021 and it didn’t take long for us to fall in love with it. The series, based on the superhero comic of the same name, told a story that was both refreshing and unique, not unlike another Prime Video television series, The Boys.

When it ended, we were sad to bid it goodbye and we all hoped that, sooner rather than later, it would be back on our television screens. Prime Video had other plans, though, and for a long time, gave us nothing concrete on the show’s return – until now.

It has taken two long years but Invincible is finally coming back to our TV screens. On Friday, Prime Video unveiled a new trailer for Invincible Season 2 as well as its release date at the San Diego Comic-Con.

From the little we can see, the wait will be worth it. The new season will see our protagonist, Mark Grayson, take on many new villains, including a certain Angstrom Levy and The Immortal.

Even though this is good news, Prime Video wasn’t about to let us have all the fun. The streamer revealed that only the first four eight episodes of the series will arrive this year with the remaining four episodes slated to arrive early next year.

Invincible Season 2’s description reads:

The story revolves around 18-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age—except his father is (or was) the most powerful superhero on the planet. Still reeling from Nolan’s betrayal in Season 1, Mark struggles to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear – that he might become his father without even knowing it.

We will see a host of actors from the first season return in the second, including Steven Yeun, Zazie Beetz, Zachary Quinto, J.K. Simmons, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Ross Marquand, and Sandra Oh. Additionally, we’ll see a bevy of new actors join the cast, including Sterling K. Brown, Tatiana Maslany, Rhea Seehorn, Ella Purnell, Peter Cullen, Callista Flockhart, and Lea Thompson, among others.

Invincible Season 2 will see 18-year-old Mark Grayson doing his best to protect planet earth.

With the incredible footage we see in the trailer and the lineup of talented actors, we dare say that the new season will be even more interesting than the first. However, we won’t be able to tell for sure until we’ve seen all of it, though.

One more thing, a special standalone episode titled Invincible Atom Eve premiered on Friday, July 21. It tells the origin story of Atom Eve and is currently available on Prime Video.

Earlier this month, we told you that Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker are on their way to Mortal Kombat 1. We now have it on good authority that J.K. Simmons, who voiced Omni-Man in the series, will do the same for Mortal Kombat 1.

By the way, the series creator, Robert Kirkman, revealed earlier this year that the live-action adaptation of the material is still on the way. The project was announced in 2017 and, since then, hasn’t made much progress as far as we can see.

Invincible Season 2 will debut on Prime Video on November 3.
