Channing Tatum rumored to star as Gambit in Deadpool 3

Multiple A-list actors are expected to feature in Deadpool 3, including Ben Affleck, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, and James Marsden.

Guess what, X-Men fans? It seems like Gambit, the mutant hero who has always been shortchanged on the big screen, may finally make his big-screen debut as played by Channing Tatum.

According to the ever-reliable insider @MyTimeToShine, it seems that Channing Tatum will finally get the chance to suit up as the Ragin’ Cajun in the highly anticipated Deadpool sequel. However, his role in the film is limited to a cameo scene and he’s already finished filming it.

If you’re a die-hard X-Men fan, then you probably remember the buzz surrounding Channing Tatum and the Gambit role in the past. Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time Tatum’s name has been associated with the card-throwing mutant.

Back in 2009, he was actually in the running to play Gambit made his debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Tatum had to pass on the opportunity, and Taylor Kitsch ultimately took on the role. Unfortunately, Kitsch’s portrayal didn’t quite hit the mark with audiences.

Five years later, Deadpool producer Lauren Shuler Donner sparked excitement by expressing interest in a Gambit film and even managing to get Channing Tatum on board. Nonetheless, the film stagnated in development hell for years, with the likes of Rupert Wyatt, Doug Liman, and Gore Verbinski attached to direct at different points in time over the years.

Just when a glimmer of hope appeared with a scheduled release date of March 2020, Disney swooped in and acquired Fox, leading to the ultimate cancellation of the film.

Channing Tatum was unable to play Gambit because of scheduling conflicts with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 is a spark of hope for a potential Gambit cameo, considering that the character has an existing connection to Logan.

Given the star-studded lineup associated with the threequel, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Tatum make an appearance, even if it’s purely for fan service.
