Six wrestlers came into the May 8 episode of Monday Night RAW with the hopes of moving on to Night of Champions on May 27 as the brand’s representative for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. At the end of the night, only one emerged, and it was none other than Seth “Freakin” Rollins.
The tournament was a thrilling ride for WWE fans, which saw Seth Rollins, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Damien Priest, square off in the first triple threat match. As the fan favorite to win the title, Rollins didn’t disappoint at all, taking advantage of a Nakamura submission attempt on Priest to hit a monster frog splash and a Pedigree to move on to the final match of the night. Then, in the next match, Cody Rhodes was all but certain to pin The Miz when Brock Lesnar took him out of action, both literally and figuratively. This paved the way for Finn Balor to land the Coup de Grace and win.
In the final match, one that’s reminiscent of the first-ever Universal Championship Belt match at SummerSlam 2016, Rollins and Balor fought in a spectacular match that ended when Rollins pinned Balor following a successful inverted Stomp followed by a normal one.
The WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament proved exciting for WWE fans, especially so after Rollins nabbed the win.

Rollins, who’s held multiple title belts throughout his career, has been in top form in recent months. Thus, his epic battle against whoever walks away as the winner on the May 12 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will surely be a sight to behold.
The winner of the match at Night of Champions will walk away with the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt.
