The third season of the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian recently aired its final episode and, according to a new report, was supposed to feature an unmasked scene of its lead character Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal. Unfortunately, Pascal was occupied elsewhere at the time of The Mandalorian’s shooting and, as a result, couldn’t find the time to shoot the scene.
Entertainment industry insider Jeff Sneider reported this news during the latest episode of The Hot Mic podcast with John Rocha.
In Sneider’s words, “Regarding ‘The Mandalorian’ and Pedro Pascal… I’m told that Pedro [his face] not being in the Mandalorian finale was a scheduling thing… He wasn’t seen, or whatever, in the Mandalorian finale. That was simply a matter of scheduling, with The Last of Us, which is in first position for him. He was on set for a couple of episodes this past season and he’s not going anywhere.”
Pascal recently starred as one of the two lead characters in HBO’s television adaptation of the video game series The Last of Us. However, filming for The Last of Us and The Mandalorian took place simultaneously and the actor had to split his time between
In a follow-up statement, Sneider expressed incredulity at how blogs on the internet tend to twist his words. He clarified that he never claimed Pascal was leaving The Mandalorian but that it was a possibility. However, that possibility seems to have been nuked as he claimed that a good source has now assured him that Pascal is staying.
In other Star Wars news, Sneider also reported that the actor hired to play the lead character in the Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson penned Star Wars movie has been let go. The actor’s exit is the natural consequence of Lucasfilm axing Lindelof’s script and hiring Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight to pen a new script in his stead.

Sneider’s host, Rocha, also chipped in that John Boyega will return to star alongside Daisy Ridley in the film Star Wars: New Jedi Order. Coincidentally, the film is the same one that Lindelof was penning before he was replaced by Stephen Knight. It will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and is currently scheduled for a 2027 release.
While Sneider and Rocha have broken a couple of credible industry news, their recent expose is, at this point, just rumors. As a result, readers should take their words with a grain of salt, at least until Lucasfilm releases an official announcement about Boyega’s return.
By the way, The Mandalorian creator and showrunner Jon Favreau revealed he has completed the script for the show’s fourth and final season. However, there is currently no information on when filming will start. Also, if Jack Black has his way, Pascal will soon be adding another role to his very busy schedule. Black, who starred as the villain of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, currently showing at the box office, revealed he wants Pascal to star as the series’ next villain Wario.
The Mandalorian Seasons 1 through 3 are streaming on Disney+.
