During the recent Star Wars Celebration held at the ExCeL Centre in London, Lucasfilm unveiled a new trailer for the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise.+
At just a little over two minutes long, the new trailer is the first full-length trailer of the film. It opens with the titular hero, played by Harrison Ford, walking into a gathering by what we assume are his co-workers screaming surprise and handing him gifts. Then, it shows him at a bar informing his goddaughter of his intention to retire before they order drinks from the bartender.
The trailer then shows Jones and his goddaughter on the hunt for the mystical dial of destiny amidst flashbacks of Jones that uses de-aging technology to make Ford appear much younger than his 80 years. It also shows Mads Mikkelsen in his role as the villainous character Voller who is also after the dial of destiny like Jones and his goddaughter.
The film leans heavily on nostalgia with scenes that bring back memories of previous films in the franchise as well as John Williams’s familiar theme song. Nevertheless, it holds promises of action and adventure that is sure to drive audiences to the theaters when it debuts.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the first film in the franchise in 15 years with the last film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, disappointing at the box office when it was released in 2008. It will also be the last film to feature Harrison Ford as the titular character, per the veteran actor’s words.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny sees Ford return in his role as the legendary titular character. Apart from him, the film will also star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, Mads Mikkelsen, Ethann Isidore, John Rhys-Davies, Oliver Richters, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renee Wilson, and Thomas Kretschmann.
The film sees James Mangold in the director’s chair with himself, David Koepp, as well as John-Henry and Jez Butterworth, contributing to the script. Lucasfilm head honcho Kathleen Kennedy produce the motion picture alongside Simon Emanuel and Frank Marshall while entertainment industry heavyweights Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serve as executive producers.

By the way, the Indiana Jones trailer was not the only big reveal at the Star Wars Celebration. During the event, Lucasfilm revealed that Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey Skywalker in one of three Star Wars films, titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order, that is currently in development. Another of these films is The Mandalorian movie which will conclude the television series of the same name.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will arrive in theaters on June 30.
