James Gunn, the new co-CEO of DC Studios, has confirmed he’ll work with the two-time Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie in his new-look DC Cinematic Universe.
Gunn made this revelation on Twitter with a straightforward “For sure.” in response to a fan who asked if he will work with Robbie again. However, despite Gunn’s confirmation that Robbie will have a place in the new DC Universe, he didn’t say if she’ll be in her old role or as a new character.
Gunn previously directed the Australian actress in the 2021 film The Suicide Squad, where she reprised her role as Harley Quinn from the DCEU projects she previously starred in.
Yep. Two of the best actors (and human beings) I’ve worked with. https://t.co/CIorqIQaqJ

Since coming on as the heads of DC Studios, Gunn and his co-chair, Peter Safran, have let go of several actors that starred in the erstwhile DC Extended Universe, including Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill, hence the fan’s question on whether he will still work with her.
The list of sacked actors also includes Jason Momoa who will leave his role as Aquaman, although there are reports he could return to the franchise as another character.
These decisions confounded many fans and led to online backlash with the sacking of Henry Cavill, in particular, leading to calls for Gunn’s sacking.
Margot Robbie had her breakthrough role as Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street. Since then, she has established herself as one of Hollywood’s most talented actresses with roles in critical and commercial hits, including the DC Studios films The Suicide Squad, Suicide Squad, and Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harly Quinn).

While fans await information on what Robbie’s role in the new DC Universe will be, they can look forward to Lady Gaga’s take on the Harley Quinn character in Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2019 film Joker by Todd Phillips.
Although he wasn’t involved in the film’s production, Gunn will be disappointed that his time as head of DC Studios is off to a rocky start with Shazam! Fury of the Gods underperforming at the box office.
The first DC Studios project the filmmaker will have full control over is Superman: Legacy slated for release in 2025, which he recently announced he will be directing with DC Studios co-chairman Safran producing. The decision made him the target of criticism on Twitter with a fan accusing him of nepotism.
Following Fury of the Gods’ debut, the filmmaker and director will now turn his attention to the Andy Muschietti-directed The Flash slated for release in April, which has high test screening scores and Tom Cruise’s approval.
