Is Echo coming out later this year? Marvel Studios’ lack of updates suggests that it’s been delayed out of its original release window. But, Alaqua Cox’s most recent tweet suggests otherwise.
Cox, who plays the role of Maya Lopez in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently said that she can’t wait for October to come. When an inquisitive fan asked her if this is the release window of Echo on Disney+, all Cox had to say was that she couldn’t say anything.
Or, to be more specific, she replied with two zip-mouth emojis, which is pretty much the same thing.
The more positive fan will believe Echo is telling everyone she’s under an NDA and can’t talk more about when Echo will be out. But, it’s possible Cox could have been talking about a different project even if it isn’t listed on her IMDB page. Cox could even be talking about the house that she recently closed.
Can October hurry tf up and get here already 🫠

Curiously enough, Echo showrunner, Mario Dayre, previously mentioned that the show won’t be ready until early 2024.
Delays are synonymous with the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, if we’re talking strictly about Echo, the usual reasons shouldn’t apply as much. It’s arguably the least CGI-heavy MCU project currently in development, which may be why it’s not delayed in light of the ongoing industry-wide VFX logjam.
Of course, until we get official confirmation, we’ll have to wait until this year’s San Diego Comic-Con in July, the earliest, for an update.

For now, the only confirmed delayed movies and shows are The Marvels and Secret Invasion. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty might be pushed back to 2026 as well.
