Nintendo Switch owners just can’t catch a break. Or, at least, their wallets can’t. Just weeks after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came out and made them spend $70 on what’s easily the best game of the year, Nintendo goes ahead and releases a new line of Joy-Con controllers.
The new pastel range of Joy-Con controllers adds a soothing, soft color palette to the Switch accessory lineup – pastel pink, yellow, purple, and green – will come out on June 30, just in time to infuse a splash of summer vibrancy into your gaming sessions.
The controllers are available for pre-order now, with an MSRP of $80 in the United States. Nintendo is selling them in pairs: Pink/Yellow or Purple/Green.

Similar to the OG Joy-Cons, the pastel-colored ones come with the standard black Joy-Con straps and will feature the same familiar built-in technology. However, this new range is believed to be the first set of Joy-Cons not tied to a special limited edition release, making them a fresh addition to the existing lineup.
The release of the paste-colored Joy-Cons comes in tandem with Nintendo’s surprising announcement of Everybody 1-2 Switch!, a sequel to the Switch’s launch title, 1-2 Switch. The game, which offers a collection of minigames to be played with Joy-Con Controllers, smartphones, and tablets, will also come out on June 30.
Considering the game’s active use of Joy-Cons, the pastel variants might provide an appealing aesthetic complement to its gameplay.
For those who want to expand their Joy-Con collection (or those unfortunate enough to encounter the dreaded stick drift issue outside of the warranty coverage), these pastel controllers are a delightful alternative.
If nothing else, the colors fit comfortably with the Switch’s current ethos: video games don’t need to be bold or loud; they can be as calm and relaxing as these pastel hues.
Fingers crossed, dBrand isn’t about to rip these Joy-Cons off and dare Nintendo to sue them again.
