Unbeknownst to most, Transformers: Beyond Reality is now available on PlayStation’s next-generation VR platform, the PS VR2.
The gripping VR game, which takes you into the heart of the Transformers universe, sees you fighting alongside Autobots in their battle against Decepticons as they try to save their new home planet, Earth.
While this isn’t necessarily a game made specifically for the PS VR2, it comes with improvements to make it more dynamic and engrossing. For the PSVR2, the Transformers VR title gets an entire suite of upgraded visuals without sacrificing its 70 FPS gameplay. It will also utilize the PS VR2’s Sense controller, so players can “feel” when they need to reload instead of having to wait for the ammo counter to pop up on their screens.
Here’s what the Meta4 Interactive VP of business development Michael Zaidan had to say about the changes made to the PSVR2 version of the game:
We were so happy to have the opportunity to improve the experience in Transformers Beyond Reality in response to fan requests. We invite previous payers to update your game for free and see the updates for yourself. For new players, we welcome you to explore your Transformers fandom in this exciting virtual reality adventure available now on PS VR2.
Transformers: Beyond Reality was originally released in September of last year.
The original version of the on-the-rails shooter wasn’t met with the best reviews but critics agreed that it had the potential to be a good game.
Nearly a year later, Transformers: Beyond Reality is now prettier and it performs better.
A fresh coat of paint doesn’t address the problems the game has in terms of the lack of originality, but it does make it more bearable to play on the PSVR2.
If nothing else, it’s an additional game to the relatively thin PSVR2 library, which is desperately needed after Sony is said to have had to lower production of the console due to the lack of sales.
