Tekken 8 To Have Free Story Mode Expansions Post-Launch

It didn't take long for Katsuhiro Harada to clarify the misinformation floating around following the most recent Tekken Talk.

To be fair, individual story DLC expansions would've been a massive undertaking for Bandai Namco.

The most recent “Tekken Talk” just ended and you’d best bet it got fans talking.

The livestream, which featured Katsuhiro Harada (Project Chief Director), Kohei Ikeda (Game Director), Michael Murray (Producer), and Naoya Yasuda (Marketing Producer), focused on what’s coming to Tekken 8 now that it has officially launched.

One of the things that stood out is the reveal of the DLC characters and their involvement in Tekken 8‘s main story mode, “The Dark Awakens.” But while many understood this to mean that every DLC character, starting with the fan-favorite capoiera fighter, Eddy Gordo, will have individual story modes, it appears this isn’t the case.

According to Harada, who has been trolling fans on X while also sharing interesting stories, Tekken 8 isn’t getting individual story expansions for DLC characters. Instead, Bandai will release a “cohesive expansion of the other characters involved in the story.”

Finally, Harada clarifies that the “story mode expansions” for Tekken 8 are free and players can enjoy them even if they didn’t buy the season pass or any of the DLC characters.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on when exactly the “expansion packs for the main storyline” will be released. The good news is that they’ll be out anytime between May and August later this year.
