While everybody’s eyes are on Rise of the Ronin, the Team Ninja game that many labeled as “Assassin’s Creed in Japan”, Team Ninja is also busy working on at least two more titles.
According to a translated interview with Famitsu, Team Ninja Head, Fumihiko Yasuda reveals that Team Ninja has worked on Rise of the Ronin for 7 years. And, while this game is scheduled for a 2024 release, Team Ninja has at least one more title set to come out later this year with a new one potentially slated for a 2025 launch.
Team Ninja recently released Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which is why this announcement comes as a huge surprise.
So far, the Koei Tecmo subsidiary has released one game a year every year over the past three years. However, prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Koei Tecmo launched multiple games a year, including four in 2017.
In a way, Team Ninja is just returning to its pre-pandemic form.
With that said, we’re curious to see what Team Ninja is working on, especially since it’s coming so close to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The action RPG tells a macabre tale set in a fictional dark fantasy version of one of the worst periods in Chinese history, the collapse of the Han Dynasty.
The worst scenario is the translation failed and Yasuda was talking about post-launch content for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and/or Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
Speaking of Team Ninja, the studio was initially rumored to be working on a reboot of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. But, as it turns out, this rumor is not true.
