Star Wars Heritage Pack will have a physical edition on Switch

The physical edition of the Star Wars Heritage Pack will cost at least $20 less compared to the digital edition on the eShop.

Star Wars video games are great fun, especially for people who are also fans of the universe. If you belong to that camp and have a Switch console, then we have great news for you. Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games are releasing a physical edition of the Star Wars Heritage Pack for the Nintendo Switch console later this year.

The Star Wars Heritage Pack is a collection of classic Star Wars titles that go as far back as 1999. The pack contains seven games that we think are some of the best Star Wars titles ever made, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Whether you have played these games before or it’s your first time, you can trust that you’ll have some fun. Even better, having a physical edition will mean they are yours and yours only.

Here’s a list of the titles and their respective release years.

  • Star Wars: Episode I Racer released in 1999
  • Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast released in 2002
  • Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy released in 2003
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic released in 2003
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords released in 2004
  • Star Wars: Republic Commando released in 2005
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed released in 2008

When the Heritage Pack physical edition arrives in December, it will be the second time this collection will launch this year. Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games first released the pack in digital format before re-releasing it in physical form due to demand.

Although one is in development, we will like to see a remake of many of these classic Star Wars games.

We should mention that the upcoming collection won’t have all the titles in physical format. Of the seven games we listed above, only five will be available on the cartridge. Both Knights of the Old Republic titles will not be present and you will need to download them to complete your collection.

We don’t know for certain why Aspyr is taking this approach but we think it might have to do with space consideration. Even though it’s disappointing, the collection, with its five physical games, is worth having.

At the moment, Aspyr has only announced the collection for people who live in North America. It’s unclear if it will arrive in other regions or if it will be available at all. One thing we do know is that Star Wars fans in Europe can also buy the digital version. Because of this, we believe the physical pack will arrive on the continent too whether sooner or later.

By the way, Lucasfilm Games said last month that it is still working on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. The studio caused a stir when it removed trailers of the game from its YouTube channel and despite its reassurance, hasn’t done much to restore confidence.

If you live in North America, you can get your hands on the Star Wars Heritage Pack physical edition from December 8 for $59.99.
