Making her debut in the MCU could be the pivotal moment Lindsay Lohan needs to reclaim her position as a leading actress in Hollywood.

Lindsay Lohan, the former child star known for her roles in The Parent Trap and Mean Girls, is reportedly setting her sights on a new, perhaps more heroic role. The actress, whose career has been as much a subject of public fascination as her films, is rumored to be in discussions with Marvel Studios to make her debut in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Us Magazine, Lohan has not only approached Marvel Studios but is actively in talks to play a character whose details remain shrouded in mystery. The only thing we know at the time of writing is that her character will likely be a “vixen superhero” which does nothing to narrow things down.

Lohan joining the MCU would mark a potential turning point in her career, which recently saw a resurgence with a cameo in the Mean Girls remake and the Netflix holiday flick Falling for Christmas, her first lead role in several years.

Prior to this, Lohan was involved in some voiceover work, which included roles in Syfy’s adult animated series Devil May Care and Prime Video’s 2022 series Lovestruck High. Just this month, Lohan confirmed that plans to reunite with Jamie Lee Curtis for a sequel to Freaky Friday were underway, though details on when filming would start were not revealed.

Robert Downey Jr.'s rise from the ashes also came from his debut in the MCU.

In the past, Lohan has expressed her willingness to take on new challenges, including action roles and superhero projects with Marvel or even DC. Reflecting on her past and its impact on her career opportunities, Lohan voiced a determination to move beyond the shadows of her earlier troubles, with the goal of changing her image in the cutthroat entertainment industry.

With enough ambition and maximum effort (thanks, Deadpool), anyone can turn any setback into their comeback. A good example of this is the former MCU star, Robert Downey Jr. Back in the 2000s, the Iron Man actor was plagued by substance abuse and drug-related problems that torpedoed his career. Two decades later, Downey Jr. won his first Academy Award at the 2024 Oscars, and despite Jimmy Kimmel’s cheap attempt at humor, we’re positive that this will not be his last.

Long story short, Lohan’s redemption arc might just be starting, and there’s no better place to do so than in the superhero genre, a universe where heroes rise from the ashes of their former selves. Go get it, Lohan. We’re rooting for you!
