Resident Evil: Death Island release date has been leaked online

Resident Evil: Death Island is the fifth installment and fourth film in the animated Resident Evil series.

An important announcement is scheduled for tomorrow regarding Resident Evil: Death Island, but a recent leak hints that we may already have some of the information we can expect from Capcom.

Earlier today, posters of the upcoming animated film began circulating on Twitter, revealing the release date to be July 7.

The posters also showcase the primary characters of the Resident Evil franchise: Leon Kennedy, Claire and Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Rebecca Chambers, with the description of “the worst mission, the strongest team.”

Here is a synopsis of the film:

D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit. Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.

At the time of writing, the film’s official website has a countdown timer running with 16 hours left. Assuming the leaked posters are authentic, this would be the first film in which all five of the principal characters from the Resident Evil franchise join forces to confront a common threat. Hopefully, tomorrow’s reveal includes a trailer with more details about the horror film.
