Ah, the bliss of waking up early to catch Saturday morning cartoons! If you’ve been yearning to go back to the good old days, GameMill has got your back. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, the game that brought our beloved cartoon characters to the fighting arena, is getting a sequel, and Ren & Stimpy are making a comeback – but not as you remember them.
In a recent spotlight trailer for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, the mischievous duo was unveiled with a fresh design and an even fresher moveset. Gone are the days of their predictable moves. Now, it’s all about strategic gameplay. With a focus on controlling space and playing defensively, the duo comes equipped with high air mobility, slow yet effective projectile, and a solid range.
Their neutral special, Log, is also fantastic, as depending on how you maneuver the control stick, you can lob it high, toss it close to the ground, or find a middle ground. Speaking of fresh designs, their down special, First Fart (yes, you read that right), is a counter that tracks damage by building up a meter, which can later be used as a special move to blast opponents away with gas.
If you’re looking to soar the skies, their up special, courtesy of Stimpy’s big red button on the History Eraser, will send the duo flying.Though Ren & Stimpy might not be the fastest or most powerful, they’re masters of chaos.
If you’re observant, you’ll notice that during some moves, both Ren & Stimpy can hit with different knockback angles and power. Ren, being the feisty one, knocks opponents away with force, while Stimpy, the more calculated of the two, positions them perfectly for combos.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl made its debut in 2021 as the first console game in the Nickelodeon Super Brawl series. The crossover fighting game brings together popular characters from various Nickelodeon shows, such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Danny Phantom, April O’Neil, and many others, to compete in dynamic battles across themed arenas. Basically, it’s Smash Bros for cartoons.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is shaping up to be a game-changer in the franchise, with a roster that’s bigger and better. From Avatar Aang to Invader Zim and the reintroduction of Ren & Stimpy, the platform fighter game promises chaos, strategy, and a whole lot of fun.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is scheduled to launch later this year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
