You can participate in Destiny 2’s Guardian Games event from May 2 to May 23 to earn medals, complete challenges, and potentially win two special weapons, Taraxippos and Title, along with numerous freebies like Exotic emotes, the Champ title, and extra Triumphs.
Bungie announced that the annual Guardian Games is back for Destiny 2. Players participating in the limited-time event can earn rewards, freebies, and so much more.
Destiny 2’s Guardian Games event starts on Tuesday, May 2, and will last until Tuesday, May 23. The free in-game event will give players a chance to earn medals for completing activities as well as participate in limited-time activities like Supremacy, a class-based PvP mode.
Players will have a chance to earn two special Guardian Games weapons during the event. The first one, Taraxippos, is the first Legendary Strand scout rifle in Destiny 2. The other one, Title, is a Void submachine gun with a special ability that lets it roll with the Repulsor Brace perk.
Finally, Bungie is giving away a ton of freebies during this year’s Guardian Games, most of which are centered around their event cards. By completing the challenges on their cards, players can earn the likes of a new Exotic emote, a brand-new Champ title, and extra Triumphs. More rewards are available for players who unlock their event cards for 1,000 Silver.
We're excited for Guardian Games to kick off next week but had one small correction: the original text hinted that depositing Medallions would level up crafted weapons. This is incorrect but there will be a weapon level progression buff active during the event. https://t.co/XGl8qheCbZ

Bungie indicated that crafted weapons could be leveled whenever players deposited medallions at the Tower. The studio later clarified that this is not the case. However, there will be a progression buff for weapon levels during the event. Ideally, players should equip their crafted weapons during the event to get the buffs.
The Guardian Games Cup will also be making a return this week. When the in-game event debuted last year, only selected teams were allowed to participate. This year, all Fireteams are invited to the event to raise money for charity.
Teams will be competing in the Technical and Charitable categories during the Guardian Games Cup. The Technical category tracks the officially registered number of medals earned by each team during the Guardian Games. The Charitable category tracks the total amount raised by teams via the official Bungie Foundation sign-up during the same period.
Players can check out additional information on prizes as well as the guidelines on how to participate in the Guardian Games event.
Destiny 2 Season of Defiance runs until May 23. Throughout the duration of Season 20, players can earn new seasonal weapons, armor, cosmetic items, and seasonal pass rewards. Players can earn a new exotic bow called the Verglas Curve.
Bungie has made headlines in recent weeks after it literally broke Destiny 2 with its latest patch. The return of the Guardian Games seem to be a part of the studio’s attempt to try and earn back the trust of disappointed players.
