Planet Zoo, the zoo sim known for its meticulous attention to the animal kingdom and park management, is set to leap from PC onto the latest console generation – and soon. Frontier Developments, the British developer behind the BAFTA-nominated title, has confirmed that Planet Zoo: Console Edition is gearing up for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 26.

Fortunately, purchasing the console version won’t break the bank, as it will only cost you $49.99. Planet Zoo: Console Edition will come with over four years’ worth of updates, packed with features, content, and a whole ark of animals, all updated and upgraded for the console experience.

Of course, this is still 2024 so you can’t have new releases without content piecemealed across offers and editions. Players who jump on the pre-orders will receive three exclusive animals: the Pygmy Hippopotamus, the Komodo Dragon, and the Thomson’s Gazelle.

For those who dream bigger, the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions offer the ultimate park sim experience. The Deluxe Edition, priced at $59.99, includes 16 additional animals and two immersive scenarios. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Edition, priced at $119.99, is the full monty, offering all the Deluxe content plus a Season Pass guaranteeing 14 future content packs.

Planet Zoo, originally released in 2019 as a spiritual successor to Zoo Tycoon, tasks players with building, managing, and maintaining a thriving zoo. The game emphasizes animal welfare and conservation, requiring players to create suitable habitats, cater to each animal’s unique needs, and ensure their overall well-being.

The animals are designed with complex AI, exhibiting behaviors and characteristics true to their real-world counterparts. Despite some criticism over complex building mechanics, the game sold over a million units in six months – a number that is sure to get a steady boost when crossing over to other platforms.

Planet Zoo is available for PC on Steam.
