Ranked play has always been Treyarch’s thing. They’ve included it in every Black Ops game since Black Ops 2. However, that has not been the case for Infinity Ward games such as the Modern Warfare series.
Modern Warfare (2019) got a CDL playlist that includes the same restrictions and map rotations as the ones in pro leagues. But this was not a proper ranked mode as it didn’t have any skill divisions.
The skill divisions and proper ranked mode returned with the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, which was also developed and led by Treyarch. The ranked play in Vanguard includes skill divisions and rewards you can earn by playing the mode.
A credible leaker, whom we’ve recently covered multiple times on our site, shared some exciting news. He claims that Modern Warfare 2 will include ranked play shortly after launch, which was also developed by Treyarch. This would be the first time we will have a true ranked mode in an Infinity Ward game.

It is not sure what Hope means by “shortly.” Only time will tell whether the ranked play mode will arrive a few days after launch, at the start of season 1, or in season 2. Vanguard’s ranked play mode was released during season 2.
Whenever it arrives, we can assume it to be quite similar to Vanguard’s ranked play mode with a proper ELO system and skill divisions.
I don't know for sure but I think the ranked system MWII uses will be the one VG has. In my opinion it's a pretty great system for future CODs and can be improved in a few ways including more rewards and work much better on a more stable game build which results in less bugs lol.
