A new Borderlands Collection is headed to the Nintendo Switch

This marks the first time that Borderlands 3, which originally came out in 2019, will be available on the hybrid console

A new Borderlands entry is long overdue but it might not arrive anytime soon.

The pandemonium is real, Vault Hunters! Brace yourselves for a loot-splosion because Gearbox and 2K just kicked open the vault to a treasure trove of Borderlands content. There’s enough here to make Claptrap do a happy dance – which is saying a lot.

First, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. Gearbox tweeted out that Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition is the hitting Nintendo Switch on October 6, confirming leaks from late last year.

The flagship, anarchic, first-person loot-shooter is making its way to Nintendo’s handheld for the first time, and you can pre-order your physical copies right now. Priced at $59.99, this new edition is a lot more loaded than Mr. Torgue’s rocket launchers. It includes the base game, Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock, Bounty of Blood, Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck, Designer’s Cut, Director’s Cut, and over 30 cosmetic items to bedazzle your Vault Hunter. Just a heads up for Switch players, though – unlike its console and PC counterparts that support up to 4-player co-op, the Switch version will be limited to 2-player co-op both locally and online. It’s safe to presume that it won’t have cross-play.

The only thing missing from this collection is Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep.

And if you’re someone who thinks one Borderlands game is never enough – hold onto your skag pups! Gearbox and 2K have you covered with Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box. This Herculean bundle squeezes in all six of the games: Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Tales from the Borderlands, Borderlands 3, and New Tales from the Borderlands, along with all their respective DLC.

Depending on the platform, the collection can set you back anywhere from $226.95 to a mind-boggling $937.31. Let’s not kid ourselves; you know Gearbox is all about value. The collection is temporarily discounted to $59.99 across all of the available platforms. Got a game or two in the bundle already? No worries, discounts apply, and they vary by system. Xbox users can complete the collection for a special $30 price, PlayStation users get a similar deal, and Steam will only charge you for the games you don’t own yet.

But, wait – there’s more! On the heels of these massive releases, there’s a fresh update for Borderlands 3, the first of its kind since August 2021. Alongside the anticipated bug fixes and stability improvements, the update focuses on adding new cosmetics, especially pieces that were a bit too tricky to get before. These additions are a welcome refresh to the game, which has remained relatively static in terms of content since Director’s Cut owners got Vault Card 2 last year. The update is Gearbox’s way of ushering in Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box, so you can think of it as a celebration in code form.

Borderlands is one of the most fun co-op looter shooters on the market.

While we’re still mulling over this veritable feast of Borderlands goodness, 2K gives us yet another morsel: the Echoes from the Borderlands podcast. The series promises to take fans on a behind-the-scenes journey with the developers, artists, and writers who made the Borderlands universe so irresistibly chaotic. This is a deep dive into the game’s lore, development history, and what makes it tick – all the things a die-hard fan would love to know.

If ever there was a time to jump headfirst into the Borderlands universe, it’s now. Whether you’re a newbie eager to be a part of the Borderlands universe or a seasoned Vault Hunter looking to complete your collection, Gearbox and 2K are practically handing you the keys to the kingdom.

So gear up, get your best loot, and prepare for mayhem. The Borderlands universe just got bigger, and it’s inviting you to dive in, guns blazing.

A new spin-off or entry in the Borderlands franchise has yet to be announced.

It’s unclear if this has something to do with the upcoming Borderlands film, which underwent reshoots earlier this year and removed Craig Mazin from its credits. It’s currently set to premiere next August after spending nine years in development.
